Presenter Information and Guidelines

Speaker Requirements

  • Speaker Name, Title, and Affiliation (exactly as wanted in print), as well as Photo and Biosketch must be received by March 15, 2010.
  • Presentations must be received by April 14, 2010.
  • Changes to slide decks will not be accepted after this date as the slides must be preloaded before the conference for both the web and onsite audiences.

Onsite Speaker Presentation Guidelines

  • Time limits are strict and must be followed.
  • Only PowerPoint slides only in Microsoft 2003 format are permitted.
  • Presentations should be engaging.

Onsite Speakers On the Session Day

  • Arrive at least 15 minutes before your session to familiarize yourself with the venue.
  • No last minute changes to your presentation are possible. 
  • Session chairs, please check the podium for any announcements or last minute instructions.
  • We welcome you to use the Speakers' Lounge to relax before and after your presentation.

Web Speakers On the Session Day

  • Follow the Cisco WebEx instructions to log into the system.  
  • Please be ready 15 minutes before your session.

Pre-recorded Voice-over-PowerPoint Presentations (VOPP)

  • The length of the VOPP presentation will be strictly limited to 10 minutes.
  • Please include your email and any other contact info on the last slide, so that viewers can address questions to you directly.
  • A Voice-Over-PowerPoint (VOPP) recording is a standard capability of Microsoft PowerPoint and instructions on how to do this are available in PowerPoint Help; if you search for “narration”, and select “Create a self-running presentation”.
  • Please save your recording in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Send your recording in a file (or sending us a CD or DVD copy if the file is very large) no later than April 14 – and this date must be adhered to.
  • Send your recording to the email adddress given in previous email communicaitons. 
  • Your computer must be equipped with a sound card, microphone, and speakers for you to record and hear a narration.

Session Chair Responsibilities

  • Welcome people to the session and indicate the session topic area.
  • Introduce each speaker (short, 30 seconds).
  • Mind the time and prevent Speakers from going over their time limit.
  • Provide or encourage questions that will keep the audience members (on-site and remote) engaged.
  • Thank speakers at the end of the session.

Session Formats

Presentations:
  • Long presentations are 20 minute presentations (15 minute speech and 5 minute Q&A) that include examples, are issue-oriented, and contain both practical and theoretical information.
  • Short presentations are 15 minute presentations (10 minute speech and 5 minute Q&A).
  • VOPP presentations are 10 minutes maximum.
  • Presentation time limits will be strictly followed.
  • It is encouraged to have a question and answer period will normally be at the end of each paper.
  • If there is any remaining time at the end of the session, the Q&A to all speakers can continue to the end of the session.
Think Tank Session:
  • The theme of the Think Tank is “Revisiting eHealth Strategies.”
  • The purpose is to promote an exchange of ideas.
  • Constructive controversy is welcome in the Think Tank.
