	Description
Health care is a complex system in which flexibility, team work and leadership play pivotal roles.  Challenges posed by new legislation, an aging demographic, the altered landscape of health services delivery, and the introduction of technology and its meaningful use demand new leadership that is responsive to the needs of a mosaic of stakeholders where collaboration and cooperation are the key to success.
This one-day workshop introduces the concept of Teams of Leaders (ToL) in healthcare and its role in providing the necessary platform for the badly needed change through discussions initiated by distinguished representatives of the US military, Canadian and US health care, and information services. ToL maximizes the use of the complex skill-sets possessed by already proven, yet often isolated leaders. In the process, a culture of shared trust, intensive collaboration and networked expertise is established.  ToL is a highly structured approach that supports the rapid development of High Performing Leader Teams across boundaries of organization, function, level and culture with optimal use of information technology and knowledge management techniques.
During the day long workshop, we will describe and disseminate ToL as a highly effective collaboration tool and provide practical, hands-on training using a Leader Team Exercise (LTX) framework under the guidance of senior mentors involved in its development and implementation.
	Background / Objectives
	-
describe and disseminate ToL as a highly effective collaboration tool among representatives of major stakeholders involved in delivery of healthcare, healthcare administration, health policy.

	-
provide practical, hands-on training using a Leader Team Exercise (LTX) framework

	-
determine, using the LTX approach and discussion among all participants, the critical fields where application of ToL could achieve improvements in efficiency.

The format provides both theoretical problem-focusing discussions initiated by presentations from distinguished representatives of the US military, healthcare, and information services and practical ToL skills, demonstrated and practiced by the participants under the guidance of senior mentors involved in its development and implementation.
